Funny how the previous night at the Medina Entertainment Center I was looking on bemusedly and somewhat snobbishly at all the women in the crowd fawning over Brett Michaels, and at all the guys trying to dress like him. Well, Saturday night at First Ave was pretty much a flip scenario set in modern-day indie-rock: I was one of many dorks drooling over Zooey Deschanel, and my wife was one of the countless fashionista girls trying to dress like her. Guess that means we're all a lot alike no matter our favorite bands. I still don't get the Michaels crowd's appreciation for "Unskinny Bop," though. Click here to read the full She & Him review. Here's the set list from their sweet 90-minute performance:

I Was Made for You / Black Hole / Thieves / Lingering Still / Me and You / Sing / Take It Back / Home / Sentimental Heart / Change Is Hard / I Thought I Saw Your Face Today / Brand New Shoes (played as duo) / You Turn Me on, I'm a Radio (Joni Mitchell cover) / You Really Got a Hold on Me (Miracles cover) / Magic Trick (M. Ward solo song) / Gonna Get Along Without You Now (Skeeter Davis cover) / In the Sun / Don't Look Back / Riding in My Car (NRBQ cover) / This Is Not a Test / Over It Over Again / Why Do You Let Me Come and Stay Here? / Sweet Darlin' ENCORE: Fools Rush In (Johnny Mercer cover, probably learned via Ricky Nelson)

As an eviction crisis has seemed increasingly likely this summer, everyone in the housing market has made the same plea to Washington: Send money — lots of it — that would keep renters in their homes and landlords afloat.
