The second of six Hennepin County service centers is to open Tuesday in Bloomington as part of the move out from downtown Minneapolis.
The new hub will include the county's Human Services and Public Health Department as well as Volunteers Enlisted to Assist People (VEAP), which has the largest food pantry in the state and provides services for low-income seniors.
Tours and refreshments will be offered at the opening from 5-7 p.m. at 9600 Aldrich Av. S.
The first service hub outside of downtown opened in 2012 in Brooklyn Center. The county plan is to disperse services out from Century Plaza in downtown Minneapolis with four more offices set to open in Hopkins, north Minneapolis, downtown Minneapolis and south Minneapolis before Century Plaza is shuttered.
