Later Friday night and Saturday, heavy rain will fall from the lowerMississippi Valley to western New York. Rainfall amounts through this corridorwill average 1 to 2 inches with some locations getting 3 inches or more. Thewet weather is being produced by moist air from the Gulf of Mexico coming incontact with a cold front to the north. The heavy rain falling on previously saturated ground is likely to causerenewed flooding along streams and rivers. During the last week of February, the region from Tennessee to West Virginia had from 3 to 5 inches of rain andthe same area will be getting another soaking during the next 24 to 36hours.
The region from the Gulf Coast to Kentucky will also have thunderstorms.
However, this is not an extremely volatile set up and damaging thunderstormswill be few.
