Heavy Rain Threat from Texas to Pennsylvania

Soaking rain will affect a large portion of the country's midsection onTuesday. The heaviest rainfall is likely across Texas, Arkansas and northernLouisiana. Slow-moving thunderstorms will dump tremendous amounts of rain in ashort amount of time, resulting in flash flooding. Rainfall amounts of up to 4inches are possible where these storms develop.Farther north, the frontal boundary will also produce a soaking rainfallacross the Ohio Valley and eastern Great Lakes. Up to 2 inches of rain can fallacross Illinois, Indiana and Ohio. While the rainfall amounts may not be quiteas excessive as what occurs in the South, there can be flooding in low-lyingand poor drainage areas due to the slow movement of the rain.
