Heavy Rain Map

Widespread rain and strong thunderstorms will spread a swath of heavy toexcessive rainfall over the South Central states to the Eastern Seaboard onSaturday night through Sunday night. The broad corridor will span easternOklahoma and east Texas though all or much of Arkansas, Mississippi, Tennessee,Kentucky, West Virginia, northern Louisiana and northern Alabama. It will alsostretch eastward with somewhat lower amounts over Virginia, Maryland andDelaware.Rainfall of 1-2 inches will spread widely over this corridor as of Mondaymorning. At the heart of this band, however, will be widespread falls of up to4 inches with local amounts to 5 or 6 inches. Memphis, Little Rock andNashville will number among cities that could see flooding rainfall.

Urban and small stream flooding will be the most widely spread threat linkedto these heavy rains. Serious flash flooding and flooding of bigger rivers willthreaten as well.
