Heat to Reload for Another Eastward Stab

A temporary break in the heat in much of the Midwest and East early thisweek will unfold even as a new hot blast gathers over the Plains.Temperatures Monday and Tuesday will fall back nearly to normal from Chicagoand Detroit east to Philadelphia, New York and Boston.

At the same time, untamed heat over the southern half of the Plains on Sundaywill build eastward at midweek. Many Midwestern cities will reach 90 degrees onThursday; some of these will do so again on Friday.

In the East, 90-degree daytime heat will be widely felt between Thursday andSaturday.
