Heat Means Records Will Fall

Things are heating up in a big way over California and the Desert Southwest.On Sunday afternoon, temperatures took aim squarely at the 90s from Arizona toSouthern California and the Great Valley farther north.

On Monday, temperatures befitting June will be reached over California,where the 90-degree mark will be crossed all to the way to Redding at thenorthern end of the Sacramento Valley. Readings in the 90s will crack recordhighs a Sacramento, Stockton, Fresno and, in the Bay area, San Jose.

In the San Joaquin Valley, there will be 100-degree hot spots, one of whichwill likely be Bakersfield.

In Southern California, valleys will heat through the 90s with a 100 degreesreached here and there. Here again, records will fall away. In some instances,it will even reach 90 degrees along the beaches.

Highs of at least 100 degrees will be set in the deserts eastward fromSouthern California into Arizona.
