A widespread heat wave blazing the southern Plains and Midwest in recent dayswill move into the Northeast on Wednesday. High temperatures will soar into the90s from interior New England to the mid-Atlantic.New York City will peak at 95 on Wednesday while Washington, D.C., willapproach 100 degrees. Oppressive humidity will accompany the heat as well. Anythunderstorms look to remain well north and west of the region on Wednesday,but these storms will advance into the region on Thursday.
