Heat and Humidity Pack Pools in Northeast

August 18, 2009 at 7:25PM

A southwesterly flow of hot, humid air will continue into the Northeast ontoday as high pressure remains anchored off the coast. The combination of heat, sunshine and high humidity will make it feel closer to100 degrees across the I-95 corridor from Washington, D.C., to Boston, Mass.

There will be some slight relief along the immediate coast, especiallysouth-facing beaches during the afternoon.

Public pools will continue to be packed, though public pools in Massachusettshave staffing issues as many of the lifeguards have left to resume theircollegiate careers. Upset kids and their parents are fuming as Mother Naturegives them a week that finally has oppressive heat and humidity, and they can'teven use their public pools.
