A portion of a former Gander Mountain store near Maplewood Mall will become a clinic that will provide non-surgery treatment for back and neck pain.
A new HealthEast Spine Center will take up about 17,000 square feet of the building at 1747 Beam Av. E., about a block from St. John's Hospital, when it opens this fall. The remaining 11,000 square feet in the building will remain vacant. The store closed in January 2011.
The spine center will offer consulting and procedural services along with physical therapists who will use the Medx program to strengthen specific regions of the back and neck, HealthEast officials said.
"We are using the latest minimally invasive care techniques to reduce pain, decrease medications and restore function for our patients, with an advanced care delivery model," said Adam Locketz, HealthEast's Spine Care medical director.
HealthEast will continue to operate its St. Paul Pain Clinic.
