A head-on crash Monday afternoon on a Sibley County highway left a pickup truck driver dead and a semitrailer truck driver unhurt, the Minnesota State Patrol said.

The wreck happened about 3:30 p.m. when a westbound pickup truck driven by a 72-year-old man crossed the centerline of Hwy. 19 at County Road 65 in Henderson Township and collided with an eastbound semitrailer truck, the patrol said.

The pickup driver, a man from Arlington, Minn., died at the scene. His name has not been released.

The semitrailer truck driver, Clarence Henry Maschke, Jr., 75, of Norwood Young America, Minn., was not hurt. He was wearing his seat belt, the patrol said.

Roads were dry at the time of the crash, which is still under investigation.
