Two cars crashed head-on in northwestern Minnesota, killing both drivers, authorities said.

The collision in Norman County occurred shortly after 2:10 p.m. Thursday on Hwy. 32 north of Gary, according to the State Patrol.

Killed were James E. Bateson, 66, of Gary, and Doris J. Hanson, 76, of Brooks.

The crash happened when a southbound car driven by Hanson swerved into the northbound lane and struck Bateson's car, the patrol said.

The two-lane highway's surface was dry at the time, the patrol said.
