The Hastings police officer who fired in a fatal shooting this week has been identified by the Minnesota Bureau of Criminal Apprehension.

Officer Geoff Latsch has been with the department three years, the BCA said Thursday.

The man shot and killed Monday was Keagan Johnson-Lloyd, 23, of Rochester, the Hennepin County Medical Examiner's Office said. Johnson-Lloyd died of multiple gunshot wounds, according to autopsy results.

Police said he was a suspect in a stabbing at a group home Monday. Later, he was spotted walking in a neighborhood, where two police officers encountered him shortly after 6 p.m. "At one point during the encounter, an officer discharged their firearm, striking the man," a BCA statement said.

A box cutter blade was recovered at the scene, the BCA said Thursday night.
