Harvin, Winfield injured

Updates on the injuries to wide receiver Percy Harvin and cornerback Antoine Winfield

Vikings wide receiver Percy Harvin declined to comment as he left the Metrodome on Sunday but the fact the rookie had his left arm in a sling said plenty. Harvin re-injured his left shoulder in the fourth quarter on a kickoff return and it remains to be seen if he can play next Sunday in Pittsburgh.

"He's a tough guy," coach Brad Childress said. "They x-rayed it and there is nothing extra in there. [It's] just uncomfortable in there."

Harvin hurt the shoulder on a second-quarter reception against St. Louis last week but was able to continue. He did not practice Wednesday but did some work on Thursday and Friday and was cleared to play on Sunday. He had been listed as questionable.

Meanwhile, the Vikings pass defense suffered a huge blow when cornerback Antoine Winfield was lost after injuring the top of his right foot. Winfield said it is not a turf toe injury. He missed the entire second half and the Ravens had great success going at his replacement Karl Paymah.

Childress said Winfield wanted to return to the game in the second half but was told no.

Nickel back Benny Sapp also missed time in the second quarter after being knocked silly on the opening kickoff of the game. Sapp, who admitted he was woozy after the game, was told he could not play in the second quarter but was allowed back after the half.

"I couldn't leave my boys hanging," Sapp said when asked how big of a factor it was to him that Winfield also was out. "That's all I thought about the whole game. I can't let my boys down."

While Sapp was out, safety Husain Abdullah was great in to play in nickel situations.
