Where are you drinking this week? Check out this swanky Mexican restaurant on the cheap.

Unless you're robbing banks on a regular basis, you're probably not eating at Rosa Mexicano every week. Sticker shock will do that. My suggestion: Check out this upscale Mexican restaurant during happy hour.

Deal: It's a half-priced extravaganza. The La Tradicional Margarita and the 1800 Margarita are cut to $4.90 and $5.50, respectively. Get a glass of sangria for $4.90 or a pitcher for $14. Imported beers are $3. Also half off: a selection of appetizers, including rolled crispy chicken tacos ($4.50), pork belly and sea scallop tacos ($6.40), melted cheese with chorizo ($4.90) and more.

Hours: 3-6 p.m. Mon.-Fri. in the swanky bar area.

Other happenings: The restaurant features an occasional specialty menu series called Flavors of Mexico. Right now, the special menu is "Eclectic Cuts: The Art of the Butchery" (through March 11). The plates include seared veal tongue tacos, ancho chile braised pork cheeks, a lamb neck enchilada and more. View the menu here. They've also made a special cocktail for the occasion: El Mero Mero, or "The Top Dog" (pictured). It's made with Herradura anejo, Amontillado sherry, maple syrup and chocolate bitters.

Info: 609 Hennepin Av. S., Mpls. 612-656-7144. www.rosamexicano.com.
