A Ham Lake man is dead following a single-vehicle crash north of Cloquet Wednesday night.
According to the St. Louis County Sheriff's Office, the 49-year-old man was traveling north on Hwy. 31 in Culver Township when his vehicle left the road and struck several trees near Bong Road.
The man, whose identity has not yet been released, suffered a severe head injury and was pronounced dead at the scene following lifesaving measures. He didn't appear to be wearing a seat belt and alcohol is a suspected contributing factor, authorities said.
