A selection of citywide Halloween events for families in some of the more populous Dakota County suburbs:
Rosemount
Haunted Woods Trail
Saturday's event is aimed at preschool through middle-school aged kids.
Costumes are encouraged, as are warm clothes if it's cold out; it's all outdoors.
A trail starts at the Park & Ride lot on Hwy. (South Robert Trail), winds through Central Park, and exits onto 145th Street West.
Volunteers pass out candy, and at the entrance, nonperishable food donations are accepted.
For more information or to volunteer, contact: Mike Bouchard at 612-840-9016 or at rosemounthalloween@charter.net, or 651-322-6011, the city parks people.
Mendota Heights
Halloween Bonfire
The annual Halloween Bonfire is from 7 p.m. to 9 p.m. on Oct. 31 at Mendota Plaza.
It's meant as a safe and enjoyable alternative to trick-or-treating. Firefighters hand out free hot dogs and soda, and merchants provide free goody bags.
