Struggling to score

October 17, 2009 at 9:16PM

Well, all it took was 12 plays and two reviews for the Nittany Lions to finally score a touchdown to lead 13-0.

The defense hasn't been able to stop Penn State, but it has done a decent job of bending but not breaking. when you're on the field for nearly 21 minutes in the first half it's no surprise the Lions were able to drive on what had to be a tired Gophers defense there at the end of the first half.

But the offense? Check out these first-half first downs:

--Kevin Whaley run for minus-3;

--Adam Weber pass intercepted;

--Whaley run for minus-1

--Incomplete pass

--DeLeon Eskridge run for a yard

--False start flag followed by an incomplete pass

--Dropped screen pass to Nick Tow-Arnett

No wonder the Gophers have struggled to get anything going offensively.

Eric Decker has now gone four whole quarters without a catch.

Weber is 5-for-12 for 25 yards. The Gophers have run for 13 yards. Total. Three yards in the second quarter. The Gophers have managed two first downs, and one came on a personal foul penalty.

We'll see if they can get anything going in the second half.
