Gunyou retiring from Minnetonka city manager post

The long-time city employee took a turn in politics as DFLer Margaret Anderson Kelliher's lieutenant governor pick in 2010

Longtime Minnetonka city manager John Gunyou told the city council Friday night that he would retire from the post he has held for 11 years on June 1.

Gunyou, a former state finance commissioner under Gov. Arne Carlson, took a turn in politics last year as DFLer Margaret Anderson Kelliher's lieutenant governor pick in 2010.

According to a release from the city, the city council "indicated" its interest in appointing Assistant City manager Geralyn Barone to replace Gunyou.
