Gulf Coast Tropical Troubles

August 15, 2010 at 7:25PM

The remnants of Tropical Depression 5 will sink south into the northern Gulf ofMexico through Monday, bringing heavy rains and possible tropicalredevelopment.Conditions across the far northern Gulf will be more favorable than earlierlast week when T.D. 5 churned northwest toward the Louisiana coastline. Thecombination of light winds aloft, moist air and very warm water temperatureswill try to energize the low pressure.

Gusty, tropical downpours will exist along Interstate 10 and coastal areas.

Rainfall amounts in excess of 3 inches will be possible through Monday evening, producing localized flash flooding.

The system may pick up some steam as it loops back to the west along the coastlater Monday night.
