A Minneapolis man pleaded guilty Tuesday in the Oct. 14 shooting death of a 19-year-old near a north Minneapolis church.

Jontrel M. Bolden, 21, pleaded guilty to manslaughter and being a felon in possession of a firearm in connection with the death of Elija Larkin at New Bethel Baptist Church. Bolden will be sentenced Monday and is expected to receive 10 years in prison.

According to the criminal complaint, Larkin got off a Metro Transit bus near Emerson and 30th Avenues N. about 6:15 p.m. About the same time, Bolden got off a different bus at the same bus stop.

They saw each other and got into an argument that quickly turned physical. Witnesses and surveillance cameras saw Bolden pull out a gun and fire multiple shots at Larkin, who was unarmed. Larkin made his way to the church and collapsed inside.
