New York's fashion week is winding down, but Minneapolis-St. Paul's version is just getting started. One of the most anticipated runway events is a new one for this year: MN4MN, a weekend-long extravaganza showcasing local designers, boutiques, plus some Target styles. Here's a look:

Fashionopolis: Inspired by Mpls.St. Paul Magazine's September issue, models will walk the runway in looks from Twin Cities shops and designers.

Sept. 11. 6 p.m. Aria, 105 N. 1st St., Mpls. $40-$60. mspmag.com.

Envision: The biannual runway show has cemented itself as the longest-running (since 2008). Also includes performance artists, live painting and art installations. Designers include Idle Child, Lindsey Hopkins and Stephanie Lake.

Sept. 12. 8 p.m. (VIP entry 7 p.m.) Orchestra Hall, 1111 Nicollet Mall, Mpls. envisionmpls.com.

Avant Garden: Walker Art Center's posh garden bash with music by the New Standards. Plus silent art auction, food and cocktails. This annual gala has quickly become one of the biggest parties of the year with fashion being a major highlight.

Sept. 13. 6 p.m. Minneapolis Sculpture Garden. $500-$10,000. 612-375-7641. walkerart.org/avantgarden

MN4MN: The tented two-day Minnesota for Minnesota event will be held at the Shops at West End. Designers and boutiques will be featured in the evening runway shows while Saturday's daytime market will boast Minnesota brands such as Duluth Pack and Faribault Woolen Mill. There will be a red carpet to strut your stuff, plus food, drinks, music and an after party.

Sept. 19-21. 1621 W. End Blvd., St. Louis Park. $30-$150; mn4mn.com.
