The managing partner for a California-based company that is trying to lure an NFL franchise back to Los Angeles said the Vikings do not top the list of teams they will target at this point, according to the Associated Press.
John Semcken of Majestic Realty Co. told the AP on Tuesday the Jacksonville Jaguars and Buffalo Bills are the first teams it will try to relocate. Those teams are among at least seven franchises the company is considering for a new stadium just east of Los Angeles.
Semcken said the Jaguars and the Bills are at the top of the list because they play in small markets that tamp down their earning potential and because they have little hope of finding larger venues in their home regions. Semcken says Majestic won't approach the 49ers, Chargers or Vikings as long as they are seeking stadium plans of their own.
The story added that Jaguars majority owner Wayne Weaver and Bills owner Ralph Wilson have steadfastly dismissed any suggestion they will sell or move their teams. Lester Bagley, the Vikings' vice president of public affairs and stadium development, said in an e-mail Tuesday evening that the team would have no comment on the AP report.
