Greatbatch Inc., a medical device maker based in Clarence, N.Y., said it will close its facility in Blaine and transfer operations to a plant in Plymouth.
About 100 to 150 workers will be transferred to the Plymouth plant, according to company spokesman Marco Benedetti. The two facilities employ up to 300 people, and only a few -- "in the single digits" -- will lose their jobs in the consolidation, he said. The Blaine building will be sold.
Greatbatch makes catheters, lead wires and other cardiac-related devices at its facilities in the Twin Cities.
