Great Lakes Ice Threat Thursday

January 12, 2010 at 1:25PM

Icy roads and slippery sidewalks will be threats to residents of the GreatLakes region on Thursday as milder air surges above very cold air lingering atthe surface.Chicago, Madison, Milwaukee and Kalamazoo, Mich., may all have hazardouswalking and driving conditions in the morning. Afternoon temperatures willlikely climb high enough that plain rain will fall, so there should not be toomany problems with the afternoon commute. Areas farther north could deal withfreezing drizzle throughout much of the day.

Some flights may even be delayed and cancelled in the region.

The freezing rain is not expected to be heavy enough to cause widespread poweroutages and damage like downing tree limbs.
