Gray moving better, will test injured foot Thursday

Could still start Saturday at Purdue

MarQueis Gray moved better during practice on Wednesday, according to Gophers coach Jerry Kill, and "we'll push him a little more tomorrow to see" whether the junior quarterback will be healthy enough to reclaim his starting spot on Saturday.
"He moved around decent, he really did," Kill said. "Now, is he ready to play? I don't know that."
Kill said he would meet with Gray, who sat out last Saturday's loss at Michigan with an inflamed big toe on his left foot, on Thursday "and see how he feels about things. I've talked to him, I think he wants to [play], but we'll do what's in the best interests of him and the team."
Kill said Gray, in order to start at QB at Purdue this weekend, would need to prove that he's close to completely recovered from the turf toe that has bothered him since the Gophers' loss to North Dakota State on Sept. 24. "I don't want anybody running around half-speed, because we can't play that way. Or three-quarter speed," Kill said. "He's definitely moving better. He has a lot better chance to play this week than last week."
