An 80-year-old man from Granite Falls, Minn., died Wednesday of injuries suffered in a Dec. 29 crash in western Minnesota, according to the Hennepin County medical examiner's office.

George James Schindele was a passenger in a vehicle that rear-ended a pickup on Hwy. 23 in Raymond, Minn., about 25 miles north of his home, just before 11 a.m. that day, authorities said.

The pickup was stopped on Hwy. 23 waiting to turn left onto 150th Avenue SE. when it was hit. Roads were dry at the time, the patrol said.

Schindele's wife, Linda, 74, the car's driver, suffered noncritical injuries. The pickup driver, Zachary Thissen, 28, of Raymond, was not injured, the patrol said.

Schindele was airlifted to Hennepin County Medical Center in Minneapolis, where he died Wednesday.
