The GrandStay Hotel and Conference in Apple Valley showcased its new reception rooms last week at a glitzy open house.

The Taste of LaGrand let guests take a peek at LaGrand at GrandStay Conference event rooms. There are four new rooms that total about 4,800 square feet, the largest of which fits approximately 300 people.

"We're excited to provide the south metro area with a new state-of-the-art facility," said Rod Lindquist, president and CEO of GrandStay Hospitality LLC, the franchiser for the hotel, in a press release.

The GrandStay opened in 2007 at 7083 W. 153rd St. in Apple Valley.

Liquor store loses license

The city of Eagan, fed up with numerous alcohol violations at Blackhawk Liquor and Wine, decided to revoke the store's liquor license last week, putting it out of business.

In 36 months, the liquor store, off Blackhawk Road, has had four alcohol-sales violations, including two instances of selling alcohol to minors.

There was a public hearing about the liquor store last November. At the time, the council narrowly decided to not impose additional penalties on the store.

But this year, Blackhawk was accused of another violation, and it was fined and closed for a month, starting at the end of September.

"Enough is enough," said Council Member Meg Tilley at the City Council meeting.

To receive the 0.75-carat diamond solitaire engagement ring, you must like or follow the company on the social networking sites.
