GRAND CANYON NATIONAL PARK, Ariz. — A break in the Trans-Canyon Water Pipeline has been fixed and water restrictions at Phantom Ranch at the bottom of the Grand Canyon have been lifted.
Officials said Saturday that the repairs were completed and visitors hiking to Phantom Ranch are no longer mandated to carry or treat all drinking water.
The National Park Service says Xanterra South Rim LLC has resumed normal operations with its Phantom Ranch overnight accommodations and services.
The break and inclement weather delaying equipment from reaching repair crews led to a water shortage at Phantom Ranch on Thursday.
All Grand Canyon National Park operations have remained normal.
While the restrictions have ended, officials urge hikers to "hike smart" with proper amounts of water and food.
