On Saturday, Gov. Mark Dayton will travel to Mille Lacs to fish for bass and promote the lake's status as the best bass fishing lake in the country, according to Bassmaster Magazine.

Dayton, shown above with B.A.S.S. champion Seth Feider and outdoor TV personality Ron Schara, will be hosted by Greg, Suzy, and Dean Fisher of Fisher's Resort in Malmo. Dayton will be fishing on a launch owned by the resort.

The governor will be joined by Minnesota Vikings defensive tackle Linval Joseph as well as a group of young anglers and other guests.

Walleye fishing on Mille Lacs is shut down for a few weeks as part of a management plan developed by the DNR intended to keep state-governed sport anglers within their Mille Lacs walleye quota this summer.

Anglers aren't allowed to keep any walleyes from the big lake this summer.

Dayton will fish from 9 a.m. to 11 a.m. and will be meeting with reporters before and after traveling onto the lake.
