With a little "Gossip Girl" TV placement on their resume and Jeremy Messersmith/Night Moves manager Paul Gillis in their corner, mood-shifting local rockers the Greycoats hope to add to their momentum with this week's release of their new EP, "Helicline." The quartet's four-song collection was recorded with Jeremy Ylvisaker (Andrew Bird, Alpha Consumer) working as co-producer, and it's a preview of sorts for a full-length album coming soon. Songs range from the Andrew Bird-ian elegant "Hideaway" to the Radiohead-freakbranded "Leviathan (Abridged)" to the summery electro-pop ditty "Promethius, Glow," the video for which is posted below. The entire EP is streaming for free and can be downloaded at a pay-what-you-will price at the group's Bandcamp page.

The Greycoats are hosting a free release party tonight at the Kitty Cat Klub with Wishbook and the Small Cities opening (9 p.m., free).
