Gophers RB Cobb not among 5 on injured list

Freshman apparently will suit up Saturday

Freshman running back David Cobb is not on the Gophers' injury list released Thursday by coach Jerry Kill, apparently leaving open the possibility that Cobb, who has been battling a hamstring injury, could play Saturday against Nebraska.
That would give Minnesota additional depth behind starting tailback Duane Bennett and backup Donnell Kirkwood, who has been bothered by hamstring issues of his own. Cobb has gained 57 yards on nine carries this season.
Devon Wright's hamstring, injured during the loss to Purdue two weeks ago, will keep the freshman out of action. Wright was one of five players declared out for Saturday, but the only one who hasn't been on the injured list already.
The other four: offensive linemen Josh Campion and Jimmy Gjere, both recovering from concussions; cornerback Troy Stoudermire, out with a fracture in his forearm; and linebacker Brendan Beal, who injured his knee before the season.

Smith’s interception was one of six turnovers the Vikings forced in a 23-10 victory over Detroit that came almost solely because of their aggressive defense.
