Minnesota Republicans will have a summit gathering of their own.

At the same time that the Democrats' Minnesota Leadership Summit breaks up Tuesday, Republican lawmakers will start a roundtable to "exchange ideas about jump-starting Minnesota's economy."

The leadership summit was coordinated by the Democratic leaders of the state House and Senate, and features three former governors, nine former leaders of the state House and Senate, the state economist and state demographer.

The Republican event, announced Friday, will be at Eaton Corp. in Eden Prairie; the Democrats' planned leadership summit will be at the State Capitol.

Last month, Minnesota Gov. Tim Pawlenty, a Republican, declined an invitation to attend the Democrats' gathering.

But Pawlenty will attend the GOP event in Eden Prairie. His budget, revenue and human-services commissioners will also attend.
