The controversy over an appearance by a Nevada lawmaker at an upcoming Republican event in Minnesota has forced organizers to cancel the event.

The Republican Liberty Caucus announced this morning that "due to unforseen [sic] logistical issues" they were canceling their annual convention featuring Nevada Assemblywoman Michele Fiore.

Fiore, who featured armed family members in her Christmas card, and who later said she would like to shoot Syrian refugees in the head, was scheduled to be the keynote speaker at the Republican Liberty Caucus of Minnesota's 2016 Convention on Saturday.

Last week, the Republican Liberty Caucus moved the location of their convention from the Celtic Junction in St. Paul to the Mermaid Event Center in Mounds View because the owners of the Celtic Junction had concerns about Fiore's past statements.

According to their website, the Republican Liberty Caucus will provide refunds for anyone who registered for their convention. The Republican Liberty Caucus is an affiliate organization of the Republican Party of Minnesota.
