The editorial board is watching the news from Washington, where debate is underway in the House on the bailout bill. See our editorial on the topic here. Let's hope we don't end the day on Wall Street with another big slide, which is what happened the last time the House voted on the issue.

And board members are talking about how the veep debate went last night. It's the only time we can remember a vice presidential candidate winking at the camera in a debate. And it's interesting that Sarah Palin and Joe Biden are being evaluated today on the same measure: no gaffes. That's the result of the expectation game everybody was playing this week.
