No, Jeff Tweedy won't be there, but Jody Stephens will, along with all the locals.

Both the Jayhawks and Soul Asylum have new albums coming down the pipeline, and now Golden Smog will return in 2011, too -- at least for two shows. The Fine Line just announced a pair of gigs with the all-star collective of mostly local '80s/'90s rockers, scheduled April 15-16. Tickets ($25) go on sale Friday at 11 a.m. The lineup for the shows will include the core group of Dan Murphy, Marc Perlman, Gary Louris and Kraig Johnson, and Big Star's Jody Stephens will resume the role of drummer. Nope, no Jeff Tweedy this time. I believe these will be the group's first local gigs in more than three years, going back to the McNally Smith College of Music Festival on Harriet Island in 2007.
