Unbeknownst to most, January is in fact National Soup Month. And because folks at Midtown Global Market are no slouches when it comes to obscure theme months, we subsequently have their third annual Global Soup Cook-Off. The event boasts more than a dozen soup recipes for sampling, and visitors can vote for the prestigious Public's Choice Award. Local restaurants, including Manny's Tortas and Holy Land, are included in the sloshy battle royale, and MGM chefs will concoct an original soup using in-house ingredients. A suggested $3 donation goes to Perspectives' Kids Cafe -- a nutrition and self-esteem program benefiting homeless and high-risk youths.
