Glam Slam clothing swap

New Minneapolis gallery Gamut is throwing a different kind of art party -- in the form of a clothing swap. Guests are encouraged to bring their unwanted wearables to swap in an "avant-garde" pop-up boutique, where photographers will shoot them in their new finds. There's no limit on what you can take home; all swaps are included in the price of admission. The event includes tunes from DJ Slow Derek, a handmade clothing and jewelry boutique and the ongoing group exhibit "Colors." (6-9 p.m. Sat. $7-$10. Gamut Gallery, 1006 Marquette Av. S., Mpls. www.glamslamswap.com.)

Interior design sample sale

Members of the American Society of Interior Designers' local chapter are opening their doors for their annual sample sale. About 30 interior design and furnishing showrooms are participating, liquidating inventories and unloading samples for 50 to 80 percent off original prices. Need advice? Shoppers can schedule 30-minute consultation appointments with a showroom designer. (Noon-8 p.m. Thu., 9 a.m.-7 p.m. Fri., 9 a.m.-2 p.m. Sat. Free. International Market Square, 275 Market St., Mpls. Call 612-326-9020, ext. 4, to schedule an appointment.)
