Girl Scouts in Minn.-Wis. region won't be selling cookies online

December 2, 2014 at 4:54AM

Girl Scouts of Minnesota and Wisconsin River Valleys, which serves 40,000 girls in southern Minnesota and western Wisconsin, decided not to participate in the Digital Cookie program.

Last year, River Valleys created and tested the Digital Cookie concept, and 80 senior and ambassador Girl Scouts sold a little more than 2,400 packages online, according to a news posting on the Girl Scouts River Valleys Web site.

The local council said that it decided not to participate in the program this year for a variety of reasons including the non-competitive shipping costs, additional credit card processing fees to consumers for girl delivery and donation and uncertainty of whether the new technology would work well for girls and customers.

Despite its initial hesitance, River Valleys didn't rule out possibly participating in the program in the future.
