An 11-year-old girl was hospitalized Tuesday evening after being found unconscious in an apartment complex swimming pool in Hopkins, according to authorities.

Just after 4 p.m., Hennepin County sheriff's deputies, Hopkins police officers and firefighters were called to the 1300 block of Lake Street NE. on a report of a near-drowning.

An employee at the apartment complex pulled the girl out of the pool and started CPR, said Hopkins police Sgt. Mike Glassberg.

The girl was taken to a nearby hospital and her condition is unknown, authorities said.

"When she left [for the hospital], she had a pulse," Glassberg said. "Thankfully, the employee was observant and found her and pulled her out."

Glassberg added that the apartment complex does not have a lifeguard. There haven't been any previous problems at the pool, he said.

The Hennepin County Sheriff's Office is investigating.
