An 8-year-old girl died Friday when the truck she was riding in collided with a semitrailer truck in Pine County.

Gracelynn R. Stadin was a passenger in a pickup truck that had stopped at a stop sign on Deerfield Lane and Hwy. 23 just before 8 a.m., according to the Minnesota State Patrol. The truck, heading west, pulled forward and was hit broadside by a semi traveling south on Highway 23, the state patrol's report said.

The 31-year-old driver of the truck, Colette J. Stadin, of Kerrick, Minn., had noncritical injuries, along with 11-year-old passenger Samuel J. Stadin. The driver of the semi, 47-year-old Daniel W. Wimmer, of Littlefork, Minn., was not hurt.

All involved were wearing seat belts, and there was no alcohol detected. The Pine County Sheriff's Office assisted with the investigation.
