Player perks at the Insight Bowl

Greetings.

The Sports Business Journal has did an interesting piece on the presents given to participants in bowl games. By NCAA rules, each bowl can give up to $500 worth of gifts to 125 participants per school. In addition, each school can give its players gifts worth up to $350 from its own budget.

So what will the Gophers got for going to the Insight Bowl? They get a Sony Gift suite for starters. A suite in each team hotel will have a list of potential Sony products from which to choose. In addition, each participant will get a Fossill Watch, a hat and a choice of two Ogio backpacks. .

Meanwhile, the Gophers will begin bowl practice on Wednesday afternoon. On Monday Coach Tim Brewster and Iowa State Coach Paul Rhoads ring NASDAQ opening bell in New York City.
