Gibson, Gutierrez among Twins non-roster invites

Former first-round picks could be big factors for the team by mid-season.

The Twins today announced a list of 19 non-roster players who have been invited to spring training, including 2009 first-round draft pick Kyle Gibson, who is knocking on the door for a starting rotation spot but likely will open the season at Class AAA Rochester.

The list also includes 2008 first-round pick Carlos Gutierrez, who will challenge for a bullpen spot this spring. Here's the full list:

Pitchers: Yorman Bazardo, Phil Dumatrait, Kyle Gibson, Carlos Gutierrez, Chuck James, Kyle Waldrop

Catchers: Jair Fernandez, Chris Herrmann, Steve Holm, Danny Lehmann, Danny Rams, Rene Rivera

Infielders: Matt Brown, Ray Chang, Brian Dozier, Justin Huber, Chase Lambin

Outfielders: Jeff Bailey, Brian Dinkelman
