Get ready for Itty

Get ready for Itty Here come Itty Packs, little packs of cookies and crackers from the Nabisco part of Kraft.

Don't we already have a ton of Nabisco 100-calorie packs containing thin-crisp variants of named Nabisco cookies and crackers at much higher prices per ounce?

Well sure, but the new Itty Packs are 80-calorie packs, and they contain mini versions of the named Nabisco items. Each box contains eight 0.65-ounce bags of mini Nilla Wafers, mini Cheese Nips, mini Ritz crackers, mini Teddy Grahams, and so forth. That's 5.2 ounces altogether, selling at one discount supermarket for $3.15. That's two or three times more per ounce than the regular-size cookies and crackers in 12-ounce boxes. Surprised?

Olive oil in mayonnaise And now, in addition to Kraft mayonnaise, fat-free mayonnaise and light mayonnaise, we have Kraft Reduced Fat Mayo with Olive Oil. Note the "with olive oil." That's not the entire list of its oil content. In fact, it's made with olive oil, canola oil and soybean oil. But it does have 4 grams of fat per tablespoon, compared with 10 grams in Kraft's regular mayonnaise. (There's also 4 grams of fat in Kraft's ordinary light mayonnaise.) At one discount supermarket, a 32-ounce jar of the new product costs $3.59, 20 cents more than the same size of Kraft's regular and light mayonnaise.

How full is bountiful? New Wish-Bone Bountifuls -- Berry Delight, Tuscan Romano Basil, Simply Santa Fe and Hearty Mediterranean -- are vinaigrette salad dressings with things floating in them. The Wishbone folks describe each as "brimming with chunks of" the included items -- berries, cheese, vegetables and whatever. Mr. Tidbit would say a more accurate depiction of the amount of these items would be "including some bits of."

At one store the 9.5-ounce bottles of Bountifuls are selling for the same price as the 16-ounce bottles of regular Wish-Bone dressings, meaning they cost 68 percent more per ounce.
