Somali speakers

Help Second Harvest Heartland with food distribution in Minneapolis. Seeking Somali speakers. Second Wednesday and second Thursday of each month. Greet clients, assist with setup and load vehicles. Must be able to lift up to 30 lbs. and have access to transportation. Six-month commitment requested. volunteer.2harvest.org.

Office help

Help Moments Hospice in the Golden Valley office. 2-4 hour shifts, weekdays. Assist with answering phones, preparing mailings, and assembling packages. momentshospice.com.

Make a meal

Assist Loaves & Fishes in the metro area (several locations) to serve those in need by cooking and serving a meal. Site coordinators provide assistance during meal preparation and serving. Volunteers as young as 8 with proper supervision. loavesandfishesmn.org.

Event help

Help the Boys & Girls Clubs of the Twin Cities with special events throughout the year. Assist with registration, greeting, setup/clean up, silent auction and more. boysandgirls.org.

Toy drive

The Toy Corner distributes new and like-new toys to families in need in Scott County. Consider holding a toy drive to collect toys, especially those suitable for ages 10-16. Toys should be in the $10 range. thetoycorner.org.

Equine therapy

Help We Can Ride in Minnetonka with therapeutic riding and hippotherapy programs. Daytime and evening shifts available. Feed the herd, do barn maintenance, help with special events. wecanride.org.

Family fun night

An opportunity for families to be matched to one of the Hammer Residences (serving individuals with developmental disabilities) in the west metro for a family fun night. Host pizza and a movie night, a game night, art and crafts, or a variety of other activities. Flexible scheduling. hammer.org.

Foster a puppy

Helping Paws is seeking volunteer foster home trainers to train service dogs for individuals with physical disabilities and veterans with PTSD. Take an 8-week-old puppy into your home and raise and train it for 2 1/2 years. Helping Paws staff provide ongoing instruction and support. helpingpaws.org.

Teach English

Literacy Minnesota needs ESL teachers for adult learners in Minneapolis. Extensive training provided along with curriculum and support. Three hours per week for minimum of four months. Classes of 5-20 learners. literacymn.org.

Mentor dads

Help FamilyWise Services with their Bright Beginnings Program. Male mentors age 25 and up are paired with teen fathers to provide support and stability. Weekly contact. One-year commitment. familywiseservices.org.
