Remember when it was nearly impossible to get a discounted seat to any shows at the Orpheum or State theaters? It's a lot easier now, thanks to Goldstar. Regular-priced tickets are $28 to $73, but Goldstar is discounting the $73 tickets to $38.25 plus a $9 fee per ticket for shows on Feb. 1 and 3 at 7:30 p.m. To get the discount, you need to register with Goldstar, but it is free. Bear in mind that you can still get a cheaper ticket for $28, but in the back of the theater.
The musical, like the movie, tells the story of a swamp-dwelling ogre who goes on a life-changing adventure to reclaim the deed to his land. He is joined by the wise-acre donkey and spunky princess, Fiona.
The orpheum box office might also be offering a savings via student rush., but as of Thursday morning (Jan. 27) it has not yet been confirmed. I hope to update this later today.
