Genoway to make NHL debut tonight; Fredheim recalled

Two more Wild players up

April 7, 2012 at 2:11PM

With Nate Prosser suspended and Clayton Stoner hurt, the Wild has recalled Chay Genoway and Kris Fredheim from the Houston Aeros. Neither is expected to be at the morning skate after playing last night in the Aeros' seventh consecutive loss (0-4-3).

For Genoway, he'll be the Wild's 47th player, 16th rookie and ninth to make his NHL debut. Remember, the maximum amount of players on a roster is 23, so the Wild has essentially fielded two teams.

Genoway was North Dakota's captain his last two years playing for the Sioux. I looked this up the other night when I thought he'd be coming and of course I can't find where I wrote it, but I believe he's the fourth-highest scoring blue-liner in UND history and was tied with the most games played.

Fredheim played two games earlier this year after the Wild turned his AHL deal into an NHL one. The right-shot blue-liner was pretty decent.

Morning skate in 80 minutes -- the last one of the season.

Kirill Kaprizov should become the Wild’s franchise scoring leader shortly after the team returns to action on Feb. 26.
