Gear alert: The Whopper Stopper lure company

June 15, 2016 at 7:46PM

Jodie Grigg of Sherman, Texas, founded the now-defunct Whopper Stopper lure company, maker of lures still favored by some anglers. In a 1964 interview, Grigg said he first designed a lure, then made a wooden model. From it a plastic model was made and sent to a mold maker.

"We do the rest — pouring, assembling and painting," Grigg said.

Grigg would later manufacture Falcon boats. He died in 2004.
