Gear Alert

Last week this space addressed the importance of knot-tying. In the pre-Internet and especially pre-YouTube days, learning knots was a bit of a chore. Sometimes books were the best instructors. But more often, because of the limitation of printed pages in teaching knot-tying, friends or knot-tying teachers were better sources of information. No longer. Today, videos on YouTube can be found that instruct anglers and others clearly how to tie knots. Additionally, by searching online, anglers can find what are called animated knot-tying instructions that are easy to replicate and practice. One such site is animatedknots.com. And yes, there are knot-tying apps you can download to your smartphone.
