Gear alert: Humminbird's Solix series impresses

July 19, 2017 at 12:34AM

Fishing electronics are becoming more sophisticated, while at the same time becoming easier to use. Humminbird's Cross Touch capability on its Solix series of depth finder/fish finder/sonar units is a case in point. Setting waypoints, navigating menus and expanding or shrinking screen images that show interesting bottom structure all can be accomplished on a touch screen. Fingertips also can be used to create four windows on the Solix models, which can be reduced to three, two or one to show larger images with the swipe of a finger. Available with 12- and even 15-inch screens. More at humminbird.com.
